The Feed in Tariff explained

Feed in Tariffs are the Governments mechanism to promote the adoption of renewable energy solutions such as solar power to reduce CO2 emissions and our dependence on fossil fuels. The payments are made via a utility company and are payable to the owner of the solar PV system - Street Energy in the case of a FREE solar PV installation.

The Feed in Tariffs are made up of two separate payments which are based on the output of electricity generated by the system.

  • The Generation Tariff of 43.3p per unit of generated output
  • The Export Tariff of 3.1p per unit based on 50% of the generated output

These payments will be made directly to Street Energy to finance the installation cost of the system and our ongoing insurance and maintenance costs over the 25 years of the Roof Lease agreement.

In addition to the Feed in Tariff payments, the electricity generated by the system is free for homeowners to use and the amount you actually use does not affect level of Feed in Tariff received by Street Energy.

Installing a free solar PV system will not require you to change your electricity supplier or prevent you switching electricity suppliers in the future.

Further information about Feed in Tariffs can be found on the Energy Saving Trust website.
