Organising your FREE solar PV panel installation

Once you have decided to take advantage of this offer and get your free solar PV system installed, please follow the instructions on the 'Is My Home Suitable' page. On receipt of your application we will organise a convenient time for one of our expert technical surveyors to visit your home to conduct a site survey.

Suitability of your roof and home

The technical survey usually takes about one hour and our surveyor will carefully check the following main criteria to ensure the your home is suitable for a FREE PV system.

• The roof orientation is within 30⁰ of due South
• Your roof is large enough to fit the panels
• Your roof is in good condition and of suitable construction to support the panels
• The slope of your roof is between 23⁰ and 45⁰
• There is no shading from trees or adjacent buildings

Paperwork and installation

Once your technical survey has been approved we will send you the necessary paperwork and Roof Lease for you to review. We will inform your home insurer about the proposed installation and will also obtain consent from your mortgage provider, if applicable. Once we receive the signed Roof Lease from you the installation process will be as follows.

• Our MCS installation partner will contact you to organise a convenient installation date
• A few days before this date scaffolding will be erected on the south facing side of your home
• The installation will take one day and will involve securing the panels to your roof using a robust fixing system that fits under you slates and maintains their weatherproofing. In addition the inverter and generation meter will be installed in your loft and connected to your mains electricity supply
• The system will be fully tested and will start generating electricity and saving you money immediately
• The scaffolding will be removed
